Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves is a United States professional baseball team based in the Atlanta metropolitan area in Georgia. Since 2017, their home arena has been Truist Park (Sun Trust Park), which is actually not located in the city Atlanta but in the unincorporated community Cumberland in Cobb County, Georgia. The distance between downtown Atlanta and Truist Park is roughly 10 miles.
The Atlanta Braves compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) and belong to the National League (NL) East division.
The Atlanta Braves have their roots in the team Boston Red Stockings (not Boston Red Sox), which was established in 1871. The franchise is the only to have won the World Series from three different home cities; as the Boston Braves in 1914, as the Milwaukee Braves in 1957, and as the Atlanta Braves in 1995 and 2021.
The Braves advanced to the World Series five times in the 1990s and won the title in 1995, against the Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians). From 1991 to 2005, the Atlanta Braves was one of the most successful baseball teams and won a record-breaking 14 division titles in a row. First in the National League West division in 1991-1993, and then (after the realignment) in the National League East division in 1995-2005. There was no title winner in 1994 due to a strike.
